Because Science, that’s why! | MKE Year 3 Week 23

I was at the doctor the other day, undergoing a battery of standard [read: boring] tests for my memory and cognitive capacity. I’m talking about 2-full days of mind-numbingly boring tests, yet when the doctors asked how I was doing – my answer was consistently “Great!” or “That’s the most fun I’ve had all day!”. Sincerely.

In my life and around my home, I’ve talked a lot about being HAPPY, always. Being positive and agreeable and easy to be around…perhaps it’s because my ColorCode is pretty evenly split between White/Yellow/Blue…meaning I have quite an agreeable personality…doesn’t mean I’m a Yes-Man…means I’m easy to get along with, and subsequently, get along with nearly everyone pretty easily as well.

Nerd Knowledge | MKE Year 3 Week 14

Remember in school, how there were all the groups, the cliques…lines were drawn and there was no fraternizing with the enemy. Labels have changed over the years, but basically there were the Cool Kids, the Book Worms (read: Nerds), the Jocks, the Rebels, the Teachers’ Pet, and the Floaters; who didn’t belong to any one group in particular; and were loosely accepted by all groups because they were neither a threat, nor an advantage.
I was a Floater.
Theatre seatingAs I observed each group hold their ground for the duration as year one morphed into year two, and year two into year three, was that their knowledge – both individually and collectively – didn’t increase with any notable significance…with the exception of the Nerds.
The Nerds were always inventing new things, learning new skills, asking for help and stretching the boundaries; applying logic from one success to the previous failure of another, and in doing so, creating an entirely new concept. After all, bread still existed before someone sliced it.

Learning was thought to be Geeky – but to the Nerds, it was always super cool.

Their ‘wins’ came from trying new techniques – and failing until they succeeded, and they celebrated the acquisition of Nerd Knowledge like it was winning the Big Game, acing a test, or being crowned Prom Queen.
If you fast forward 10-years after High School [any 10-years; any High School], the Nerds have secured their place as ruler. Bill Gates. Nicholai Tesla. Mark Zuckerberg. You get the point.
So, the way I see it, adopting some Nerd Knowledge of my own; studying with the same tenacity as the Nerds’ studied, then I too can morph into a Nerd and celebrate the slicing of my own bread!
education is our passport to the future
Introspection is one of my favorite things. Time spend in self-reflection – quietly reviewing my life – reflecting, wondering… ‘What am I Missing?‘ fills my cup. So I decided to apply this logic to figuring out how exactly to re-claim my sanity and put my Dragons to rest, once and for all. And it begins with the question I haven’t been able to answer. I need to put my Jennergy in the spotlight…and that begins with the desire to give more. In order to do that, I must first ‘Nerd-up’ my finances; abolish my bad spending habits, live within my means and conquer the infamous ghost who keeps draining my bank account.

It’s been said a time or two that money is the root of all evil. Everybody knows that’s not true. It’s the love of money that is the root of all evil.

If you’re a nice, generous, compassionate person, money won’t turn you into a giant prick, rather, it will simply accentuate your kind soul. Likewise, if you’re a giant prick…well…I’m sure you get where I’m going with this. You see, money simply accentuates that which we already are.

“Every human being who reaches the age of understanding of the purpose of money, wishes for it. Wishing will not bring riches.

But, desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.”

Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, describes the method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps:

  1. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter).
  2. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing”.)
  3. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.
  4. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
  5. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend toacquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
  6. Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ – SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.
These subtle nuances between what we ‘think’ we know, and what actually is, shapes our perception of the world. When we can look at FACTS vs the TRUTHS we tell ourselves, we realize that our realities are nothing more than our perceptions.

Perceptions aren’t reality. Reality is reality.

Our realities are shaped by the feelings we associate (our perceptions) to the situations which we experience. When we realize this we’ve got a chance of living our true Greatness.
Knowledge is power girl

I hope and trust you are living your own Greatness and embracing your inner Nerd – I have Faith in you, I will be your Cheerleader and your Biggest Fan.

Go get your Nerd on.

YES YOU CAN!!

Thank you for taking the time to read…I look forward to your comments!

My JENNERGY | MKE Year 3 Week 11

I realize now that it’s really more how I am IN the Universe, rather than what I am TO the Universe that matters most.

My destiny is a lot more about the Universe’s plan for me, for my life, rather than my plan for the Universe…

The brilliance of the Master Key System, especially this week [WEEK5], confirms that the more I read, the more evidence I discover to support living by a code rather than a direct course of action.

My entire life…I’ve heard, read, and really felt for that matter, that ‘the Universe has a plan for me’. I’ve received encouragement to ‘live my greatness’, yet I’ve drawn a blank when trying to articulate what that ‘greatness’ actually is.

The link that I realized this past week is that I was understanding what I was hearing incorrectly – I was trying to do the Universe’s work…I was trying to be the message and the messenger. I should have been acting as a channel for the message.

Same old thinking...same old results

As Haanel states in 5-11:

“But if we have stored away nothing but courageous thought, if we have been optimistic, positive, and have immediately thrown any kind of negative thought on the scrap heap, have refused to have anything to do with it, have refused to associate with it or become identified with it in any way, what then is the result?

Our mental material is now of the best kind; we can weave any kind of material we want; we can use any colour we wish; we know that the texture is firm, that the material is solid, that it will not fade, and we have no fear, no anxiety concerning the future; there is nothing to cover, there are no patches to hide.”

Truth be told, the only thing I’ve ever really known as a sure and real thing, is that I wanted to be HAPPY. Aside from that I couldn’t have articulated from the seat of my soul – my Solar Plexus – what I wanted out of life, who I am, or what I can bring to the world. For as long as I can remember, I’ve kind of been beating myself up because I haven’t truly been able to answer the questions, among others:

What do you want to do?

Who are you?

What do you want to become?

Who are you, and what do you really want?

Really annoying…because I’m really smart and I should be able to reverse-engineer this kind of stuff. How on earth I could pigeon-hole all of my wonderment into only one thing has never made any sense to me. And I’m smart…like just shy of MENSA smart but this one embarrassingly simple questions have evaded me for decades. Seriously?!?

Haanel goes on in 5-12 to connect this though, namely:

“These are psychological facts; there is no theory or guess work about these thinking processes; there is nothing secret about them; in fact, they are so plain that every one can understand them. The thing to do is to have a mental house-cleaning, and to have this house-cleaning every day, and keep the house clean. Mental, moral and physical cleanliness are absolutely indispensable if we are to make progress of any kind.”

Seems I’ve always had a hard time choosing just one thing, or narrowing down to only one path. Historically, I’ve had difficulty answering those questions, perhaps because I’m so multi-passionate?

I’ve mistakenly associated ‘living my greatness’ with ‘being some specific thing’…

… a writer, a mom, a servant leader, an employee, an entrepreneur…or with specific traits like bravery, tenacity, strength, honour, resilience, persistence…insanity. I haven’t had a messy house, it’s simply not been kept clean everyday. I haven’t taken my gifts and put them forth with purpose.

I’ve enjoyed everything, everything that I’ve done in my life, which is a long list; varied from accounting to marketing, to driving, to travel planning…there hasn’t been any one thing that defines me…I’m just one of those people that’s blessed with a varied skill set. I’m talking permanent Sunshine and Rainbows kind of stuff. I’m a mom and can throw a kick-ass party, I’m a baker, I’m funny and well spoken, I like to proofread and I’m pretty good at finances, I love to travel, and I don’t have a green thumb but have learned to be ok with it, I’ve got above-average communication skills and I make a mean banana bread, and I love my kids, hard!

I’m all about being HAPPY. Spreading Happiness. Sharing HOPE.

My best friend is a paramedic, and she has known she wanted to be a paramedic since she was young, I admire that dedication and rooted knowledge. She’s been a paramedic forever – that’s her identity, that’s what she does, that’s her thing, and that’s her brightness the world. I love that – I love it so much.

Yet when I talk to her, she loves that I don’t have just one thing, so she says I can do everything, and is in awe that everything I touch turns to gold. She thinks it’s amazing that I know how to do so many things, because [as she puts it], she only knows how to one thing – paramedic. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. [Isn’t she beautiful!!]

Our life story isn’t defined by the things that happen to us, instead how we handle it. The good and the bad.

And it’s high-time that I harness the full breadth of my uniqueness. Rather than holding myself back as I have been [by giving into my ghosts, allowing resistance to be the governor of my destiny] – I’m allowing myself to celebrate it, embrace it.

My gift to the world is HOW I think.

How I react.

How I share my brightness.

Blissfully ignorant.

Full of empathy. True joy.

Edifying everyone…building up their greatness, helping them embrace it.

How I am is part of my DNA.

I am so unique. So special. Insightful, pure, honest, empathetic, compassionate, funny and kind.

I can be what I will to be.

My Jennergy is the essence, the heartbeat, of all that I am

All I need do is reach out and claim it. Claim my greatness. The world is counting on it!

Infinite life flows through me, because I earnestly desire happiness for everyone.

I hereby assert my claim over my unique trifecta of Brains | Beauty | Bravery and the more I put it into practice, the deeper I feel my connection to the Universe, urging me to continue the cycle and share it more and more.

I promise to manifest Liberty+Recognition for Creative Expression and living the Law of Compensation; giving more without the expectation of reciprocity.

…BTDubs, this question mark has been hanging around my home for about 7-years – sometimes stuffed in a closet, sometimes hung in a prominent place…depending where I am in life and whether or not I can answer the question. When I feel I can’t answer it, I stuff it away – or is it the other way around?… I promise you all right here and now, never again am I going to take it away from my daily sight lines, if I do, I give permission for one of my top 5 favourite humans – AA – to take it from me and hang it in his own home!

Pockets of Time | MKE Year 3 Week 1

Hey…got a minute??

I’d like to talk about the seemingly inconsequential ‘Pockets of Time’ that make up our day. These bite-sized morsels of time can have an enormous impact on how we make our conscious decisions, which of course, then forms our habits. And everybody knows that ultimately, it is our habits that pave the way for the life we live. For better or for worse.

Let’s start by digging into what a ‘Pocket of Time’ actually is: any amount of time which makes up the in-between times…the time that fills the gaps. For instance:

  • Waiting for the bus, or in line, or for the photocopier…
  • After school before the kids come out
  • While your food spins in the microwave
  • When you’re put on hold during a phone call
  • During commercials
  • Listening to the radio in your vehicle
  • Or waiting for the traffic light to change, etc.

These small 20-180 second intervals allow us plenty of time to think ourselves into the life we want to live, or not – just as easily, we could do nothing at all…or worse…complain about all the things we don’t want, or we could log into the black hole that is our social accounts and get depressed about all the things we don’t have.

Whether it’s staring at the microwave; mindlessly channel surfing; or listening to gossip on the radio show…none of those things are going to move you closer to your greatness.

However, can you imagine what you could do with that time if you choose to apply yourself, beginning by putting these pockets to use?! Instead of watching cat videos, you could choose to do a physical chore, such as:

  • Clean out the leftovers in the fridge
  • Wipe the front of the appliances
  • Refresh the dogs’ water bowls
  • Take out the garbage
  • Write a quick love note for someone
  • Straighten the shoes at the front door
  • Organize throw pillows on the sofa
  • Purge receipts from your wallet
  • Unload the dishwasher
  • Sort the mail
  • Start writing a BLOG
  • Or simply … think a happy thought…

Your dreams are calling you...Decline or Accept

Once you can master the art of putting your physical body to better use, you might be ready to develop your emotional and mental self – this is the world within. Inside each of us is the unlimited potential to harness an unbelievable amount of thought power…yet, out of habit – or perhaps out of sheer laziness – we usually, and subconsciously dismiss the opportunity to do something productive or beneficial – simply by electing to do nothing.

In essence, we refuse to answer the call to our greatness.

It doesn’t take any extra effort to keep the house clean if you make a point to do so…instead of leaving your socks on the floor, just demand of yourself that you respect the house and your housemates and pick hem up when you get off the sofa, for instance. It seems inconsequential, yet truthfully, when you do tiny things to keep order in your life it saves you from having to find hours each week to clean the house. Same logic applies to your mental housekeeping since your exterior world is a direct reflection of your interior world.

Here’s what I know to be true…if you want to go on a vacation, holding a grudge over someone who went on one isn’t going to build you an airplane…you’ve got to get off your butt and start working! The same is true for your life. You’ve got to dream your dream into reality…become one with it…obsess about it [rather than about Candy Crush or Clash of Clans]. Put those pockets of time to better use. Your future depends on it.

I’m not saying you need to fill every second of every day – but if you take a personal inventory of how you behave during the pockets of time in your world, then you can begin to fill your pockets with intention and activities designed to propel you closer to your greatness!

Screen Shot 2018-09-18 at 9.51.40 AM

The good news and the bad news is it’s entirely up to you.

If you’re anything like me you spent a lot of time in your car…yeah, you could spend time listening to songs on the radio about the guy who lost his dog and/or broke his truck, but all the time I’ve been listening to the radio I’ve never heard any money come out of it!! Its never paid my mortgage or put food on my table…so instead, while I’m in the car I choose to listen to audio designed to help me become a self-directed thinker (sure, your kids might complain – but when they do, have them Google what Pitpulls’ Mom made him listen to):

  • Science of Personal Achievement by Napoleon Hill
  • The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale
  • A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson
  • Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

The countless hours I’ve spent with these icons as my silent partners; my guides; my mastermind alliance have supported me to new heights that I am enjoying today, and beyond. I am so thankful I didn’t mindlessly fall in line with the other sheeple and listen to the radio!!

It isn’t what I learned – it’s who I became as a result that has changed me the most and had the most lasting impact.

In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill says:

Complaining about being poor won’t bring you riches. Wishing for it isn’t enough, you’ve got to act yourself into riches. Wishing for riches may very well bring you temporary riches, but acting with LOVE in your heart will surely bring you riches for generations.

Autonomy and Legacy are important to me – so I made a promise to myself, and a commitment to my family to be that person who creates ‘old money’ for my family – for generations to come. I chose to put my pockets of time to use to create a better life for myself and my family – a future that creates riches for generations.

Today I begin a new life is a great mantra – adds love to your mindset. Repeat this in your Pockets of Time and witness how your life changes.

To be clear here, riches isn’t about money – ‘riches’ is about anything you hold dear to your heart. I realized I didn’t need to have rich Grandparents, or an old Uncle to leave me a ton of money in his will, or the proper blood lines.

Rather, by tapping into my innate potential and reprogramming my brain;

making better decisions about what to do with my time,

I confirmed to myself that I can become anything I want;

I can accomplish anything I set my mind to!

And you can too!!

You are Nature’s Greatest Miracle.

You have it within you to Persist Until You Succeed.

Now, armed with the knowledge that we can think ourselves into any life we want…I encourage you to be brave.

Go ahead and love yourself into riches, by posting a few affirmation cards on your bathroom mirror or inside the kitchen cupboards and see how what you think about changes.

Malcolm Gladwell concludes that one becomes an ‘Outlier’ [a master of their craft] with 10,000 hours of practice. Essentially, anyone can master anything by practicing for about 90-minutes per day, for 20 years…he calls this the ‘Tipping-Point’ of greatness.

The way I see it – the ‘Pockets of Time’ are the answer; a first step towards the mastery of 10,000.

We may feel short on time to impact change in our lives overnight, or in a week, or in a month…but can you imagine how different your life would be in 2-years or 5-years or 10-years if you were to simply redirect your mindless time into mindful time? The possibilities are endless. Try new things. Make new mistakes.

10,000 hours - how much have you put in?

Today is your day – your ground zero!! Human beings have the ‘God-like’ power to control our thoughts; and since “we become what we think about” as Earl Nightingale reminds us in the Strangest Secret, then it stands to reason we can visualize into reality any life which we can imagine.

Here’s to your next new mistake. I’d love to hear all about it.

Love,

Jen

The Cliffs of Insanity (v2)

As I’ve been working through the Master Keys, The Greatest Salesman and the MKMMA workbook, I am recognizing how they are all LINKING together. I recognize that in the past I have allowed some uneducated thoughts to direct my thoughts and by extension, my actions, in ways that can (and have!) only lead to torment, pain and/or suffering. Enough is enough.

Everybody knows that the definition of insanity is:

doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

– Albert Einstein

Disengaging Auto-Pilot (v2)

My game plan this week was to sit back and be a silent observer…of the process, the group, myself, and most importantly, my reactions! I noticed when I was hungry, when I was sad, when I was tired, and happy and mad and glad. I paid attention to the details with acute-sensitivity.

Perhaps for the first time ever, I observed as my subconscious began throwing a tantrum at the thought of new processes. I didn’t cave in or get discouraged, nor did I attempt to tell myself how great I was, or wasn’t. I simply identified the feelings in each moment, attempted to isolate the triggers, did my best to dismiss the immediate discomfort, and negotiated with myself farther than I had believed would be possible regarding with my old habits, and instead wrote it all down without editing, judging or trying to control it.
